My mother and I both used this company for our moves in 2023, both to the same apartment building but with two different apartments, each about 2 km away. We paid €5,000 and €2,000 respectively, as they specialize in senior citizen moves. Packing and unpacking were included in the agreement, and the old apartments were inspected beforehand. About two weeks before the move, when I inquired (because I was surprised by the lack of communication regarding packing, etc.), we were informed that, contrary to the agreement, we would have to pack everything ourselves. The moving boxes only arrived after several inquiries and insistence, and then only about five every few days. Since I had COVID-19 on the day of the move, my move was practically nonexistent. Despite being ill, I had to do most of the work myself – transporting and organizing things (assembling the sofa, installing lamps, and much more). My 83-year-old mother (who paid €5,000!!!), who, mind you, did NOT have COVID, but has an artificial knee and cancer, didn't even have her bed brought to the new apartment. So for four days, she had to walk about 2 km back to her old apartment to sleep. (I couldn't drive her because I had COVID.) The apartments were practically empty by the handover day, with our own help, not to mention the cleaning. The stress gave me shingles!! I was physically and mentally exhausted... The move with the company was one of the worst, most horrific experiences of my entire life (and I've experienced a lot). Following a recommendation, we commissioned the company to clear out our deceased father's ground-floor apartment, particularly because both my wife (wearing a brace after a broken foot) and I (upcoming shoulder surgery) were only able to sort through and secure his personal documents. The resident had indeed indulged in some collecting passions, and both living rooms contained numerous, mostly small, items; the basement room suffered the same fate. Mr. Vorpahl took on these challenges with a large team of employees, so that the job was indeed completed within a short time, incidentally in front of the owner of the building, who lived in the apartment across the street. However, the price negotiations, which were not worthy of the name, left a bitter aftertaste. Mr. Vorpahl, who had witnessed our physically and mentally challenged state after the loss of a close relative, after some deliberation, named a flat amount, and when we agreed—in fact, incapable of arguing with ourselves—he added, 'Plus sales tax, of course.'
